"A Hearth of Our Own" by Alum Gabrielle Ewing

A Hearth of Our Own, by alum Gabrielle Ewing (UGFTV, 2015) will screen as part of the Socially Relevant Film Festival's Shorts II: Discrimination & Injustice program on 3/17 at 3pm at the Bow Tie Cinema in Chelsea.  A Hearth of Our Own is a documentary that tells the story of Jacob, who was forced out of Ireland after the economic collapse of 2008, and is now one of approximately 50,000 undocumented Irish immigrants living in the United States. Working in New York City as a bartender, he makes as much as a lawyer would in his rural hometown. With his dreams of opening his own bar hanging in the balance, he faces the threat of deportation unless he can marry an American girl—for papers instead of love.
