On December 9th, friends and family of Connor Evelich filled the Goldberg Theater for the first live reading hosted by UGFTV Scripts, a new program in which the top student-written scripts are selected and read onstage. The audience listened and laughed as the actors on the Goldberg’s stage performed Evelich’s Good Knight, the second feature script written by the recent graduate. A medieval comedy, the script tells the story of Sir Cal, a failure of a knight so desperate to be like his noble cousin Sir Yvain that he steals Yvain’s identity. The cast included NYU alumni Brooks Cline, Stephen Chacon, Mike Lockyer, Laura Piccoli, Kristin Winters, and Granger Willson, as well as current NYU students Cosmo Carlson, Mamie Zwettler, and David Israeli. Reading scene descriptions, Peter Johnston masterfully tied the entire event together.
Good Knight kicks off a series of monthly readings, the next of which will be on February 10th as Alexie Basil presents her feature script.
