Tisch Thesis Short "Welcome" Selected as a Finalist at the Cannes Emerging Filmmaker Showcase

NYU Tisch School of the Arts alum Serena Dykman will screen her short film Welcome which has been selected as a finalist at the American Pavilion Emerging Filmmaker Showcase at the Cannes Film Festival.

Inspired by true events, the film follows Anna, a young New York-based Czech doctor, who is held at U.S. immigration after a humanitarian trip to Uganda — the day her boyfriend plans to propose to her.

Starring Jandra Dee (recently featured on Inside Amy Schumer) and Randall McNeal (NBC’s Deception, HBO’s Boardwalk Empire), the film examines U.S. immigration and bureaucracy with a heartwarming and personal story that touches a unique aspect of European immigration and the concept of home.
